Why does fire safety training exist?

Fire safety training is critical because it helps protect lives, minimize property damage, and make work environments safer. Here are some reasons why fire safety training is essential:

Protection of life and health

A comprehensive understanding of fire safety measures and procedures enables employees to respond quickly and appropriately in the event of a fire, helping to prevent injuries and even deaths.

Minimizing property damage

Through fire safety training, employees learn how to detect and fight fires early, helping to reduce property damage and minimize potential losses for the company.

Compliance with legal regulations

Many countries have strict regulations and rules regarding fire safety in the workplace. Fire safety training helps companies comply with these regulations and avoid potential legal consequences.

Increasing employee competence

Employees trained in fire safety have the knowledge and skills to recognize and respond appropriately to potentially dangerous situations. This contributes to the company's overall safety culture.

Avoiding production downtime

Fires can cause significant production downtime, negatively impacting operational efficiency and profitability. A well-trained workforce can help minimize or prevent such disruptions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have to undergo fire safety training?

Whether someone is new to the team or has been with the company for some time, it is important that your employees complete fire safety training throughout the year. As an employer, you have a responsibility to ensure that all employees are aware of fire safety, as required by general occupational health and safety guidelines. According to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Section 12), it is required to offer regular fire safety training, as fire risks are one of the potential hazards in the workplace. It is a good idea to document your employees' attendance at these training sessions to ensure you meet all legal requirements. By ensuring that your employees regularly attend fire safety training, you not only minimize the risk of fires but also legal and financial risks for your company. Your employees will receive proof of their participation in an online fire safety training course.

How often should such training be conducted?

According to Section 12 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, employees must be informed about the potential hazards of their work upon joining a company and regularly thereafter. Specifically, this means that the employer is obligated to repeat these occupational safety trainings at least once a year, as stipulated in the "Principles of Prevention" of the German Social Accident Insurance (see Section 4 DGUV-V 1). In addition, it is necessary to inform your employees about fire safety when special events such as fires or fire-related work-related accidents occur in your company.

Does the training have to be carried out in the company?

Do I get a certificate of participation?

You will receive a certificate of successful participation either by email or immediately after the training. This can be a group certificate or an individual certificate for each participant, whichever you prefer. This certificate confirms your qualifications as a fire safety assistant and serves as proof of qualification. This certificate is of great importance to employers, especially when it comes to reviewing the occupational safety measures taken. Insurance companies may also require proof to ensure compliance with all applicable occupational safety regulations.
